In Which We Let Go to Absorb a Little More
Sometimes we need to trim our roots to allow ourselves to absorb more easily.
I decided to title the subject of this newsletter “in which we let go to love a little more“ in part because of the moon’s placement and all the planets and points it lays across from.
I’ve shared a good deal about the axis and energy of Scorpio and Taurus both of which are concerned with depth on different levels and how we move through these intense experiences.
With the moon being in Taurus we know that this is a space where it finds itself an “esteemed guest,“ it is here that it feels the full capacity of what it’s able to provide. The moon here reminds us of the need for rest, of the physical pleasure that comes from laying on smooth satin sheets, of the need to be present in the moment in the smallest of sensory joy whether it be singing along to a song and feeling the sun on your skin, or savoring the flavor of a fresh piece of herb on your tongue.
Yet, there’s a bit of a contradiction with Uranus sitting at the same degree as the moon. The moon wants ease and stability— to feel that moment between breaths. As it applies to Uranus, this outer planet adds a layer of energizing vitality. I want to specify that though I say energizing and say the word vitality, it’s not so much a thing that holds a positive or a negative connotation, instead, it’s about this burst occurring when we least expect it. With these planets so close at this eclipse, there’s an inner drive to shift and create more space for these pleasure that we are experiencing.
We know however that it isn’t just the North Node and the Moon and Uranus that is at play here but also the Sun and the South Node in the sign of Scorpio. Yet, we also have an infusion from Mercury and Venus. These planets when paired with the South Node then give us a sense of illumination about all that is slowly shedding away.
The sun shines a light on the things that are standing in the way of these moments of peace we crave. The south node points to our roots, the ones that need to be clipped so we can receive more nourishment even if we have less to work with initially.
At the same time that all of this is occurring, we have Venus ruling over this Taurus moon. Venus in Scorpio is one of my favorite experiences, even if it comes with difficulties and tension— so much tension. It also brings us more close to our core sense of desire. It awakens the urge to bring more of what we might consider taboo and what we think we shouldn’t want. It craves the deep WANTS that sometimes also bring up shame.
While I won’t say this eclipse is easy I will say that it is one that brings great awareness. This eclipse allows us to cocoon ourselves deep within our sense of want. This is about truly naming the things lust after but haven’t allowed yourself to speak aloud yet.
The ritual I’ll be sharing below will help us come to terms with our desires while also helping us release shame. Though this ritual is designed with the eclipse in mind, you can do this any time before the next new moon.
